time is calling …

In honor of winning my first award at a film festival I am opening up this page for you for one week. As a filmmaker and a creator it has always been tough to put a paywall in front of my projects but it’s not about the money. With streaming and the state of the entertainment industry we are being flooded with everything and anything 24 hours a day. We doom scroll, we indecisively search on streaming platforms without direction and we expect things to be free no matter the cost to the creator. I am 100% guilty of this as well so when putting my short film out I wanted to do it differently. I didn’t want to just throw it up on Youtube and call it a day. I put together a big premiere party and made it an event. Now it lives on my website where it only costs $5 to get permanent access to it. I wanted to remind people of the hard work that goes into these things at a small cost. We are so used to seeing art for free. Inherently I don’t think that it’s bad at all but I also think it lessens the stakes of you experiencing the art itself. Right now I’m writing a sequel to this short film and plan to make content that lives on this page as well. The $5 isn’t going to make me rich but it will buy me a coffee and maybe slowly add up to help pay for coffee and snacks for my future projects haha. But I know personally when I pay for something I tend to pay a little more attention and appreciate it a little more too.
